Blue Lotus

Nymphaea caerulea

Whole Nymphaea caerulea flowers in a small bag.

Whole Blue Lotus (Nymphaea caerulea), commonly called Egyptian Blue Lotus, Egyptian Blue Water Lily, or Sacred Blue Lily of the Nile. Despite the name, it is botanically a water lily rather than a true lotus. Kept simple and unblended: soft, floral, faintly honeyed petals in shades of soft blue, periwinkle, and blue-lavender with a golden center, dried to muted lavender, dusty blue, purple-gray, tan, and yellow tones. Steep a small pinch as a warm floral tea, scatter a handful into a hot bath, add it to a bowl of steaming water, or tuck a few petals into a linen sachet.

  • Nymphaea caerulea, identified by botanical name
  • Botanically a water lily, not a true lotus
  • Soft blue to blue-lavender petals with a golden center
  • For tea, baths, steam bowls, and linen sachets
  • Small bags, small batches
